9-11 A American Muslim Tribute in Lego

It has been quite a while since I last posted, I have been been with school work and research so that I did not get a chance to post anything new. Today is the 10th anniversary of 9/11, a solemn occasion where all of us should sit back and reflect on the tragic events of that day and the lives lost. May the souls of the 3000 or so innocent individuals lost that day rest in peace. Here is a photoessay commemorating the 10th anniversary of 9/11. It is meant to be minimalist and be understood by young and old.

(i) The Twin Towers: On that tragic day the extremists hit the Twin Towers in New York City and we lost an important symbol of our country and many innocent lives were lost.

(ii) The work of the brave men and women of FDNY and NYPD will not be forgotten. The country is proud of you

(iii) It was an occasion of great sadness for the nation

(iv) In the aftermath some of our fellow citizens and immigrants were singled out

(v) No matter what the conditions, American must stand together regardless of their politics, race, religion, ethnicity, gender, orientation etc

(vi) Here is to a more prosperous future for America and the world, Ameen

If you thought the last incident with the Legos was bad then guess again, things are even worse. I was in DC for a conference over the weekend and was visiting my brother. There I discovered that its not just the Legos but it seems that all the toys are part of a conspiracy. Let this be a warning to all the parents. Be sure to check where your kid’s toys are be, it was a toy fest gone wrong. I was of course able to capture these images with a hidden camera.

(i) Its always “Big Fish eats the little Fish”

T-Rex: Alright everyone, its $5 to use the restroom. No exceptions. I dont take credit cards but check are welcome.

(2) The secret food stealing Toy Gang

This is the notorious food stealing toy gang, headed by the innocent looking Blue.

Ironman: Be sure to get the carrots.
Batman to Batman: Be sure to load everything. Don’t make too much noise Barbie, we don’t want the humans to wake up.

Quiz: How many batmen can you spot?

Batman: I am on my way. The package will be delivered in 20 minutes.

(iii) Extortion

Never in a million years would anyone have guessed that Happy the Rabbit was the leader of the infamous extortion gang – Toys ‘n Guns.

Happy the Rabbit: Give me all your money Ironman or Barbie gets it.
Ironman: Do I get a discount at least?

Happy the Rabbit: I am sure you are making a lot of money from the food stealing setup. How about sharing some of that dough with me?

So the other day I woke up in the middle of the night and saw the following scene unfolding in my own house – Lego figureines gambling with my money! Let this be a lesson to everyone. Be sure to check when what your children’s toys are up to when they are asleep. You never know what they may be doing. I have installed a camera in my house for future reference. You never know what else might be going on ……

MoMA: Museum of Modern Art

This piece is part of my Museum Improvement Program and it came into being in the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan New York. What is the best place to create art than in the Museum of Modern Art itself.

I will leave it to the reader to be the judge of the merit of this project.

Abu Bokemon is the artist also known as Abu Pokemon but why the change in name you ask? Abu Bokemon has existed in a small corner of the net for a few months mainly experimenting one thing or the other. The change in name also saves me from any possible legal hassles related to the use of Pokemon.
